Studying in Slovenia
In 2004 Slovenia has launched the reform of its higher educational system in order to fulfill the objectives of the Bologna declaration and the Lisbon agenda. As a result, the study system in Slovenia resembles the one in the Netherlands.
On the university level the study cycle is divided into 3 stages:
The undergraduate/bachelor's degree (I. stage):
3 or 4 years programs
The graduate/master's degree (II. stage):
2 or 1 year programs
Undergraduate and graduate programs together:
5 years maximum
(3+2 or 4+1)
PhD studies (III. stage):
Higher education programs last for 3 or 4 years and account for 180 or 240 ECTS respectively.
