20th anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute
Slovenia remains an active member of the Court. Slovenia's commitment to the strengthening of the international justice reflects our foreign policy, which is based on the rule of law, respect for international law, and the awareness that lasting peace and security and social progress are impossible without respect for human rights and the prosecution of the most serious crimes. Slovenia is also member of the Bureau of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute.
The Court is the most significant mechanism for ensuring that perpetrators are held responsible in cases when states are unable or unwilling to do so. The importance of the ICC's role is evident from the number of cases that the Court is dealing with and which directly or indirectly concern regions worldwide. The Court has recorded achievements, inter alia, in the fields of case law, victim assistance, and the efficiency of operation.
Slovenia reaffirms the full support for the work of the ICC and will continue to promote its universality, integrity and efficiency.
